In the meantime, the Quality Management Commission (CAQM), part of the central pollution control authority, announced an amendment to the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) on Wednesday, making it mandatory to close schools in Delhi and the NCR regions during Phase 3 and 4 of the initiative.

The decision to implement these measures was left to the state government’s discretion.

The Supreme Court reprimanded the Commission for Air Quality Management.

Earlier this week, the supreme authority decided to postpone the implementation of Chapters 3 and 4 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) and granted the power to close all schools across the National Capital Region (NCR) until further notice.

In response to the rising pollution levels, a special initiative known as the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) has been developed. This plan involves imposing various restrictions based on the severity of pollution. As pollution levels rise, the corresponding rules of GRAP are put into effect.
