On Tuesday evening, at least five soldiers lost their lives and five others, including the driver, sustained serious injuries in a road accident along the Line of Control (LOC) in Poonch district.
The Army’s White Knight Corps based in Nagrota expressed their heartfelt condolences on Twitter, stating, “All ranks of the White Knight Corps extend their deep sympathies on the tragic loss of five brave soldiers in an accident while on operational duty in the Poonch sector. Rescue operations are currently in progress, and the injured are receiving medical attention.

According to an official statement from the Army, the incident occurred when one of the vehicles in a convoy of six went off the road near the control line and fell into a drain. The operational track is located within the Indian side of the LOC.
The statement further noted, “The cause of the accident is under investigation.” It was mentioned that the driver lost control while navigating a turn on the road.

After verification from ground sources, officials completely ruled out the possibility of the incident being initiated by terrorists. Our post was situated approximately 130 meters from the site of the accident, and the backup vehicle was only about 40 meters away.
Earlier, a senior intelligence official reported, “At around 5:20 PM, a Maratha lite vehicle traveling from Nilam headquarters towards Balnoi Ghora Post on the Control Line crashed near Ghora Post.” He added that the vehicle fell into a ditch roughly 150 feet deep, resulting in serious injuries to ten soldiers, including the driver.
